As the culminating project of an Intro to Mechanical Engineering course at the University of Utah, this project entailed collaborating as a team to design and build a functional water pump powered by a small motor. We subsequently conducted performance tests to evaluate the pump's efficiency and effectiveness.
Pump Overview Presentation
To better understand the motor's functionality and limitations, we disassembled it and examined its internal components. After obtaining certification in SolidWorks CAD software, we designed and fabricated custom 3D parts for the pulley system. Additional components were carefully selected to meet technical requirements while adhering to a strict budget.
As one of three team members, I took a lead role in constructing the pump and its components. I designed and 3D-printed one of the custom pulley parts using SolidWorks and additive manufacturing tools. Additionally, I conducted research on compatible components and managed the budgeting process to ensure all parts met both functional and financial constraints.
