To assess the potential impacts of the proposed I-15 expansion on noise pollution and public health in the Rose Park neighborhood of Salt Lake City, I worked with a small team to collect and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data. We synthesized our findings into a ten-minute podcast, which we presented to our peers at the University of Utah.

Throughout the project, our team interviewed a healthcare professional, recorded sound level measurements, and gathered input from Rose Park residents using bilingual surveys. We also submitted regular progress reports to track and communicate our findings.

During this project, I took the lead on developing and managing the survey process. I drafted the initial survey questions, designed outreach flyers, and created both English and Spanish versions of the online survey to ensure accessibility for Rose Park residents. When a team member was unable to contribute as expected, I also took initiative in analyzing our recorded sound data—graphing our results and comparing them to national transportation benchmarks. Additionally, I went beyond the project requirements by mapping the study area using GIS to provide spatial context for our findings.
